Day 26: Stars

Day 26: Stars

More designs I'm trying out.

Hah, the first pic posted isn't even a star. ;)  Ah, I know why. I was trying some knotwork pendants at the same time..but the knots kept getting destroyed.

Day 25: Zombie

Day 25: Zombie

I've tested out other zombie designs in the past, but this was the first time using the foil overlay. The design itself work on the larger 1.5 x 2 pendant, but the coloring is off. I wanted the red and green to have some overlap, but ended up with a bit too much. Now it's a little too muddy for the black background.

Day 24: Sexy Devil Lady

Day 24: Sexy Devil Lady

You see the sexy trucker girl all over the place. Well in my family, it's sexy devils! I was trying various silhouettes for devil men and women. I really liked this design initially, but not sure if I like it now. There's something a bit off, but I can't quite place it. The majority of the designs have to be on the larger 1.5 x 2 pendants to fit the detail (like the tiny heart tail). I'm going to keep playing around and see what works.

Day 23: Mini-Chalkboards

Day 23: Mini-Chalkboards

Even since I saw the chalkboard paint at the store, I've been wanting to try it out. I was finally able to pick some up and play around. I'm pretty pleased with the results.

I think I might add some more layers of paint to the next batch, but they seem to holding up rather well as is. Now I just to figure out a way to attach a piece of chalk to the pendant itself!

Day 22: Claddagh

Day 22: Claddagh

I had some friends get married recently. I know a lot of married couples but surprisingly, they're the only couple I know that's gotten married since meeting. (Does that make sense?)  Anyway, I wanted to make them a wedding gift and thought the claddagh was fitting. They said that their house is decorated in reds and blacks, so I chose my glass accordingly.

I haven't had a chance to give/show it to the couple yet, so I hope they like it!

Day 21: Misfits

Day 21: Misfits

Met up with some fellow Misfits fans over the weekend and even spent some time joined in song. Gotta love those who know the lyrics to Braineaters, Halloween, and Astro-Zombies!

The details on the face of this crimson ghost look-a-like are foil overlays colored black.

I think I'll end up making some Misfits skull pendants in the near future.

Day 20: Bleach

Day 20: Bleach

Bleach is another series that I really like. I'm so far behind on the anime/manga though. I stopped watching religiously when Dattebayo stopped fansubbing the series. I've been trying to catch up on Hulu, but I'm only up to the point where the captains enter Hueco Mundo to battle the Espada. I'll catch up on the anime/manga eventually..I always do.

Window Painting Project: Complete!

Here's the window painting project I've been working on during the past 2 weeks or so. It is officially finished!

It was for a french preschool that had expanded and wanted their new exterior windows to match the look of their previous ones. I'm used to painting on glass on a much smaller scale, so this did offer some challenges. Each window was about 36 inches wide and I ended up having 11 windows to work on.

This is what the school initially had painted.
This is what I added to the expanded area.

Day 19: Halloween

Day 19: Halloween

Oooh, I'm counting down to Halloween already! It's my favorite time of year!!

Here's some pendants to help get ya in the Halloween spirit!

Day 18: Kyogre

Day 18: Kyogre

Had a friend ask me about commissioning the legendary Pokemon, Kyogre. I drew up the design and gave him a quote. Then found out he was talking about a pendant, and not a suncatcher. Oops. At least I've already got the Kyogre design ready if someone wants him made. ;)

The test pendant ended up having to be almost 1.5 inches tall and around 3.5 inches wide, just to get the design to fit using the foil overlay. He was a pain, but looks pretty good for a first attempt.

Day 17: Akatsuki Cloud

Day 17: Akatsuki Cloud

I'm a huge fan of Naruto Shippuden! I let myself get about a month behind on the new episodes so that I can watch a few at once. Though I'm ahead on the manga, it's still cool seeing the battles with those brought back through Edo Tensai up on the screen.

In honor of the Akatsuki, here's their symbol on a new larger pendant. I believe it's 1.5 inches x 2 inches. I tried using spray paint instead of black glass for the background. This normally wouldn't be a problem, but I used some really cheap black this time around. Ugh, I'll just be using it up on more demo pendants at least.

Day 16: Life/Heart Bar

Day 16: Life/Heart Bar

Devilman saw some Life Bar pendants on Wish made out of laser-cut acrylic and thought it would be cool if I made some out of glass. Instead of just going for the bar, I went for the heart containers. These bad boys also fluoresce when under UV/black light. I've got some plain HP/MP bars in the works, but I'm also thinking of doing some mana/potion containers too.

Day 15: Star Wars

Day 15: Star Wars

Devilman and I were having a discussion about Star Wars the other day. I love scifi, but will readily admit that I can tell you what happened in plenty of Star Trek episodes and yet don't even really know the order of the original Star Wars films. I've probably memorized more of Spaceballs than of Star Wars. ;) The characters are still instantly recognizable though.

Day 14: Happy Devils

Day 14: Happy Devils

I've been playing around with the idea of offering customizable pendants for a while now. I had tried various methods : all stained glass, painting, soldering overlays.. but it seems like foil overlays under a clear piece of glass is my best bet.

I'll start by offering a selection of designs on either clear or black glass. From there, a choice of design colors: black, silver, red, orange, yellow, green, teal, blue, purple, magenta, and brown.

These happy devils are the first batch where I tried out all of the colors on the same design (except for brown/black).
